MYFOXNY.COM – The New York City Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to begin sifting through debris recovered from the World Trade Center site on April 5.
The material of more than 800 cubic yards was previously inacessible. A special forensic sifting machine will be used at the Fresh Kills landfill on Staten Island.
Good Day NY spoke with Dr. Michael Baden, a former medical examiner, and Charles Wolf, who lost his wife on 9/11. Katherine Wolf’s remains have not been found.
“One could find skeletal remains (in the debris) and DNA in those remains,” Dr. Baden told Co-host Greg Kelly. “As long as it’s not burned, the DNA will be there forever.”
The sifting operation is expected to take three months and will cost New York City $1.4 million. Watch video at the link here.
