For over 25 years, 90-year-old former special needs teacher Betty Hooper collected evidence relating to the treatment of children diagnosed with ADD, (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD, (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). In this 11.23 minute long video, which was filmed at the Whangarei Public Library on February the 1st and 2nd, she talks about some of what she has learnt and offers advice on how to treat hyperactivity.
Mrs Hooper is an independent researcher and not affiliated with any group.
She is well qualified to talk about this topic, as she says she is old enough to have witnessed a deterioration of children’s behavior over the decades. In addition, she self-funded a research trip to Cuba in late-2005, in order to compare the diets and behaviors there, with those in New Zealand.
